DealerWeb – Using the Region/Location for (SEO) field

This explains how the information you see in the Tab, located in the top left corner of each web page is created, and how to optimize this information for SEO purposes.

One of the 3 key parts of this involves the Region/Location (for SEO) field, which is found under: Appearance > Theme Options > Dealer Settings

We are working with the principle that Google likes to see about 70 characters including spaces in a Page Title, and are extrapolating this to the information that is contained in the Tab for a web page.

In DealerWeb, the information in the Tab is generated by the concatenation of 3 things:

  1. Page Title OR SEO Title in Yoast
  2. Company Name
  3. Region Location (for SEO)
Based on the principle of 70 characters in total, our recommendation is that dealers aim for this as an optimal amount, but work within a range of 70 – 100 characters (including spaces).

Dealers can surpass this if they wish, but our understanding is that the SEO power is not positively affected as a result—this is a case where ―less is more.

Dealers should carefully think through what they put in the Region Location field. Words such as “Largest” are not really pertinent/beneficial to a search engine, nor are prepositions, conjunctions, etc.

Example screen shots are included below, which use Tangram as an example dealer with multiple locations. (This is a mock-up only.)

In the case of the Leap Chair Page, the total number of characters is 94:

Page Title + Company Name + Region/Location (for SEO)

Microsoft Word provides this information as shown below:

The SEO Title field in Yoast will overwrite the Page title for SEO purposes if it is used. The regular Page Title will be used otherwise. *Typically, a dealer will not need to fill in the SEO Title field.*

The Result – Here is how the page Tab looks. The rollover state is shown.
